Thursday
The course is quiet before the leaderboard means anything. Cool morning with a wind that hasn't decided its direction yet.
We design on the same premise as Royal Birkdale itself: tough conditions, fair result.
Friday
Second round and the dunes start doing their work on the wind by Friday afternoon. Lines tighten, the pace picks up and the crowd gets louder around the leaderboard.
