Organotex®
Extend your lifetime of outdoor garments
Outdoor garments are often treated with a DWR - a “Durable Water Repellent” finish, that will keep the outer fabric dry. This is important not only for waterproofness, but also for maintaining the breathability of the fabric. As these treatments wears off, the outer fabric will start to get wet even though the membrane continues to stop water from going through the garment. When that happens it’s easy to re-proof the DWR-finish and by choosing the right kind of products, functionality is maintained, fibres are protected, and the lifetime of the garment is extended.
If you only want to reinforce the water-repellent surface in exposed areas such as the shoulders, you can use a spray treatment. You can also re-proof the entire garment with a wash-in treatment. How often you need to do this depends on how much the garment has been used and how often it has been washed.
Be environmentally smart when choosing
after care for waterproofs.
When re-proofing any waterproof garments, be environmentally smart and choose a treatment that has no harmful, difficult to degrade fluorocarbons or solvents. Today there are a number of good, environmentally friendly products to choose from.
Abacus have begun a cooperation with OrganoTex®, a Swedish entrepreneur, that has developed a unique, patented way of making fabrics water repellent without using harmful chemicals. Sales in Sweden are growing, and we will expand our relationship to other markets as soon as possible, offering a complete Waterproof range, including after care.
