Abacus continuously work to improve the routines, to ensure product quality, security and thereby reduce the environmental impact of the products together with all our supplier.

Legal background
REACH
Abacus is required to comply with the European Chemicals legislation called REACH that is in force since 1st of June 2007. REACH is an abbreviation for Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and restrictions of Chemicals.
The essence of REACH is to ensure a high level of safety for human health and environment, focused on substances in general and hazardous substances, that are manufactured in EU, imported into EU and used within EU. It is the responsibility of all manufacturers, importers, and users of substances within EU to ensure that the substances they manufacture, import or use do not pose any risk to human health and environment. REACH affects all EU-actors that professionally manufacture, import, sell, buy, distribute, or use chemicals as such and in articles.

Since 1st Nov 2015, Abacus join and become members of Chemical Groups at SWEREA IVF who have over 150 members under year 2019 at Norden Europe - http://www.kemikaliegruppen.se/.

Abacus worked closely with all our supplier include material suppliers to invent how to improve and low down the no of chemical using. We updated “Abacus supplier guide “and are tracking well against all our supplier must follow the requirement for REACH. You can follow the updated information on the website of the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA), http://ECHA.europa.eu that the European Authority for REACH on behalf of the European Commission

PFAS
In December 2021, Abacus Sportswear took a major step towards chemical safety and joined the PFAS Movement - "NO TO PFAS". At Abacus Sportswear, we work according to the precautionary principle, which means that we are aware of and avoid chemicals that can be harmful, but which are not yet banned by law. For this reason, it is natural for us to support ChemSec's work to phase out PFASs and have them banned in the EU.
