“I think the US will be very strong this year,
but I'm hoping for a miracle similar to the one at Medinah.
Swedish Peter Hanson, ambassador for abacus®, has represented Europe in the Ryder Cup on two occasions: 2010 and 2012. Both years, Europe won over the USA with 14.5-13.5. Peter is also one of the coaches for Ludvig Åberg, who received a wild card to the Ryder Cup this year.
What is so special about the Ryder Cup, Peter?
The team spirit! As individual athletes, we rarely get the opportunity
to play and act as a team. Winning the Ryder Cup and celebrating
the victory as a team is a fantastic experience, which I will always carry with me!
What was decisive for you to be able to win the Ryder Cup both years?
I think the most decisive thing was that we had extremely strong teams
on both occasions. Medinah were probably two of the strongest teams
both continents have ever faced.
What do you think about Europe's chances of winning this year?
6 months ago I thought the USA had an advantage.
But, with our European young talents and players who
showed incredibly good form recently away in the USA (Hovland/Rory)
so the situation looks much better for Europe.
