Prolong the season by dressing in layers

The changing weather of Autumn doesn’t have to spoil the pleasure of being on a golf course in the latter part of the golf season even though changing temperatures throughout the day can often be accompanied by wind and rain.  Being prepared for it is the key. Dressing in layers is the smart way to keep the cold out and the warm in and fabrics that offer good breathability and stretch will keep you comfortable and moving freely throughout the swing.

Base layer
Closest to your body

Stay warm and dry with our Cypress/Colinas Longsleeve as base layer. Moisture being close to the surface of the skin is a major reason for feeling cold but the Cypress wicks moisture away from the skin to the outside of the garment where it evaporates harmlessly away. For a non-zip option the long sleeved Spin is a great alternative. Choosing your base layer well means an enjoyable and comfortable round.

Second layer
Warmth

As a second layer, we recommend a stretchy, soft fleece – a layer that can be removed once the body starts generating heat. The Hoylake Midlayer for men from our Autumn collection is a great example with its padded shoulders and upper chest that provide extra warmth for more exposed areas. Another great choice is the classic looking Cradoc halfzip, perfect over a classic polo or Spin long sleeve base layer.

Third layer
Protection

The third and outermost layer is what will protect you from the elements. This could be the soft, stretchy and highly breathable Bounce rain jacket which is wind and waterproof and  takes up next to no space in the golf bag or it could be the Grove Hybrid jacket – perfect for windy conditions. Its front and back lightly padded for extra warmth, while arms, sides and shoulders are in stretchy fleece, ensuring full movement throughout the swing. Or why not choose the coziest jacket of the season, the Preston Pile Wind Jacket, with its thin lining and soft pile fabric guaranteed to keep the wind at bay.

Trousers to suit the weather

Cold legs are bad both for moral and the blood circulation so complete the layering process with our breathable Links Warm Waterproof Trousers. Looking and feeling like a regular pant they are completely waterproof with a brushed tricot lining for warmth on those cold autumnal or winter days.

When playing in cold biting wind we recommend our high performance Druid Windvent trousers.  Made from stretchy softshell fabric that is brushed on the inside these trousers could easily become a favourite both on and off the course.
